- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, and ½ tsp of salt until well combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, and ½ cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just incorporated.
- Gently fold in 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Press half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, then drizzle 1 cup of caramel sauce over it.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the caramel layer and spread to create an even layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan, preferably chill in the fridge for an hour before slicing.
