Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add cold, cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture and cut in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk buttermilk and vanilla extract together, then pour into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
- Transfer the dough into the prepared baking pan and press it evenly into the bottom.
- Combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon, drizzle melted unsalted butter over the dough, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting out to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Beat together softened cream cheese and unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Once cool, frost the bars generously with cream cheese frosting, then cut into squares or rectangles.

Notes
Allow bars to cool completely before frosting to prevent sogginess. Use cold butter for the base and softened for frosting.
