Directions
- Start by trimming the crusts from thick white bread slices and cut each slice into 9 equal cubes.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs, 1 cup of whole milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- In a shallow bowl, combine ½ cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon and mix thoroughly.
- Heat ½ tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until bubbly; dip half of the bread cubes into the egg mixture.
- Fry the soaked cubes for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
- Use tongs to transfer the warm cubes to the cinnamon-sugar mixture and toss to coat.
- In the same skillet, add remaining ½ tablespoon of butter and repeat cooking with the remaining bread cubes.
- Plate the bites while warm and drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
