Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Cook the lentils: Rinse 1 cup of red lentils under cool water, add to a saucepan with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10–12 minutes until tender. Drain excess water and cool.
  2. Prepare the mixture: In a bowl, combine cooled lentils, 1 cup grated sweet potato, 1 chopped onion, and 2 minced garlic cloves. Add spices and mix well. Let sit for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Form the patties: Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet. Shape mixture into small patties and gently place in the skillet, avoiding overcrowding.
  4. Fry until golden: Cook patties for 3–4 minutes on each side, ensuring they are golden brown. Transfer to paper towels once done.
  5. Blend the avocado sauce: Combine avocado, ¼ cup cilantro, 1 garlic clove, lime juice, and yogurt in a blender. Blend until smooth.
