Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into evenly-sized rounds. Boil in water for 10-15 minutes until tender.
- Drain and place half of the sweet potatoes in a greased baking dish, overlapping.
- Sprinkle half of the fresh cranberries over the first layer of sweet potatoes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the sweet potato and cranberry layers.
- Add the remaining sweet potatoes, then the remaining cranberries, and finally pour the rest of the cream mixture.
- Top with Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
