Ingredients

For the Rolls
  • 3 medium bananas Use ripe bananas for their natural sweetness.
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Can be substituted with phyllo dough for a lighter version.
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut cream E.g., Nutella; consider almond butter for a nut-free alternative.
For the Egg Wash
  • 1 large egg For a vegan option, use milk instead.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Optional if you prefer a less sweet treat.

Equipment

  • oven
  • baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Small bowl
  • knife
  • whisk

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 392°F (200°C). Carefully carve a shallow trench lengthwise along each ripe banana, without cutting through completely.
  2. Spoon hazelnut cream into the trench of each banana, spreading it evenly to fill the cavity.
  3. Roll out puff pastry and cut it into strips. Wrap each banana with the pastry, overlapping and tucking the ends underneath.
  4. Place the wrapped bananas on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar on top.
  5. Bake for about 25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  6. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm!
