Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt 3/4 cup of butter in a mixing bowl. Add 3/4 cup of light brown sugar and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
- Incorporate 2 eggs, 1.5 teaspoons of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid red food coloring. Mix until even.
- Sift in 1/4 cup of cocoa powder, 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Fold until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the top is crinkly and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool the brownies in the pan for 15 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment and cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat together 4 oz of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of butter, a pinch of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth. Gradually sift in 1.5 to 2 cups of powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the cooled brownies evenly. Cut into squares and enjoy!
