- In a small bowl, combine softened unsalted butter with finely chopped fresh sage, a pinch of salt, and freshly cracked pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Carefully thinly slice your apple and gouda cheese to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Spread sage butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, place gouda cheese and apple slices, adding turkey bacon if desired.
