Preparation
- Start by melting the Nutella in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it for about 20-30 seconds, stirring halfway through to ensure it becomes smooth and pourable.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 stick of unsalted butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring occasionally.
- Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the mixture. Stir vigorously until a smooth ball of dough forms, about 1-2 minutes.
- Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes before incorporating the beaten eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- While the dough is resting, prepare your coating by mixing together 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) using a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
- Fit a piping bag with a large star tip and fill it with churro dough. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil.
- Fry the churro bites for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn golden-brown, using a slotted spoon to turn them.
- Once golden, remove churros from the oil and let drain on paper towels. Roll each churro in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still warm.
- Enjoy your Nutty Churro Bites warm, served alongside the melted Nutella for dipping.
