  • 1/4 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese Substitute with asiago or pecorino for a different twist.
  • 1/8 cup Cream Cheese Softened; Neufchâtel or ricotta can be effective swaps.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine fresh spinach, chopped artichokes, shredded Parmesan cheese, softened cream cheese, and mayonnaise. Add minced garlic, and season with salt, fresh cracked pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Mix until creamy.
  3. Roll out each puff pastry half to about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Spread the spinach artichoke mixture generously over one half of the rolled-out pastry. Place the other half on top and press down to seal.
  5. Slice the pastry into six long strips and twist each strip into a swirl shape, tucking the ends underneath.
  6. Beat the egg with a teaspoon of water to create an egg wash. Lightly coat each swirl on top with the egg wash.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow the swirls to cool slightly for about 5 minutes before serving.
