  • 4 leaves Fresh Basil dried Italian herbs can be used as a substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Pesto homemade or store-bought
For Grilling
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter should be softened
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For Drizzling (Optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic Glaze or balsamic reduction

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Spread softened unsalted butter generously on one side of each slice of sourdough bread to create a golden crust.
  2. Layer fresh mozzarella, tomato slices, basil leaves, and pesto on the unbuttered side of two slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Top with remaining slices of sourdough bread, buttered side out, and gently press down.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Grill sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese starts to melt.
  5. Carefully flip the sandwiches and grill the other side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and mozzarella is melted.
  6. Remove from skillet, drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired, cut in half, and serve immediately.
