Step-by-Step Instructions for Grilled Teriyaki Burger
  1. In a small saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger and 1 minced garlic clove, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Stir in 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of honey, allowing them to dissolve completely into the oil mixture for about 2 minutes. Next, pour in 1/2 cup of low sodium soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar. Stir well.
  3. Bring your sauce to a gentle simmer, cooking for approximately 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 beaten egg, 1 tablespoon of A-1 steak sauce, and 1/2 cup of panko breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper, and form into 4 to 5-ounce patties.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, aiming for 400°F. Lightly oil the grill grates.
  6. Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side, then brush with teriyaki sauce. Flip and grill for another 4-5 minutes or until they reach 160°F.
  7. Toast your burger buns on the grill until golden brown. Assemble each burger with a patty, grilled pineapple, red onion, and drizzle with teriyaki sauce.
