  • 1 tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup Omit for Whole30 version.
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder Cayenne pepper can be added for more heat.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Cloves Minced.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust according to taste.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula until browned.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes until vegetables are tender. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in tomato sauce, unsweetened ketchup, water, pure maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and chili powder. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with salt if needed. Serve over toasted gluten-free buns or baked sweet potatoes.
